Bringing Mediaeval History To Life
Some of the Retinue at English Heritage site Kirby Hall
The Erpyngham Retinue, based in London, are Historical Interpreters and Consultants, we give demonstrations of life in the late 14th and early 15th Century (circa 1380-1420) throughout the country. We are able to assist with historical research and costume requirements of the Television and Film industries for period dramas set during this radical period in our history "The One Hundred Years War".
We are available for educational lectures at schools and other locations, providing through our sister company, The Knights Resources film extras (both foreground and background) and also catering for all types of private functions with entertainment inside for your guests if required.
We establish an authentic backdrop, the campaign campsite of Sir Thomas Erpyngham K.G. (1357-1428). Sir Thomas, sited in William Shakespeare’s plays "Henry IV" and "Henry V", was part of the King Henry V's retinue at the “Battle of Azincourt” on the 25th October 1415.
Commanding the English archers during the battle, it was recorded by chroniclers, that with the order “nestroque” (now strike or now loose), Sir Thomas ordered the first volley of arrows to be loosed at the French army.
