Object

The object of the Group is to entertain and educate the public with demonstrations of life during the late 14th Century, circa 1380-1420.

Membership

Membership is open to both sexes and all age groups subject to conditions below.

All members should show as high a level of dedication as is individually possible.

A person under the age of fourteen shall be known as a concessionary member and will be a full member after that age.

All concessionary members must be under the care and control of their parent/guardian.

The Group reserves the right to refuse or refute membership, to any person without recourse to the Group, by a vote of the commitee or by request of the members.

The committee may suspend any member at any time as is necessary. Appeals will be heard either verbally or in writting, the Committees decision shall be final.

Costume and Equipment

Control of appearance is governed by the Groups appointed advisors. Only weapons, armour, equipment, heraldry and costumes approved by the advisors are allowed to be worn or used. As a guide, equipment and costume used should be of a style that would have been worn, or used during the reigns of Richard II, Henry IV and Henry V (1377-1422).

Subscriptions

Subscriptions shall be £12.00 per year pro-rata, due on the 1st January each year.

Subscription rates shall be set, each year, at the A.G.M.

Subscriptions may be paid to the Group by cash or cheque.

Honorary and Concessionary members shall not be required pay subscriptions.

The Committee

The Committee shall consist of Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary. The Committee shall be able to co-opt any member as is necessary.

The Committee shall be responsible for the administration of the Group, meeting as is needed.

The Committee is empowered to act on behalf of the members of the Group.

Two Committee members shall constitute a quorum of a committee meeting.

Chairman

The Chairman shall be responsible for the orderly running and presentation of the Group. The Chairman can make proposals. The Chairman may be empowered to negotiate display fees.

Vice-Chairman

The Vice-Chairman shall responsible for deputising for the Chairman where appropriate and shall be able to co-opt assistance where necessary.The Vice-Chairman may be empowered to negotiate display fees.

The Secretary

The Secretary shall be responsible for the day to day maintenance of the groups communications, responding to all enquiries made as appropriate.

Safety

No member is to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor or controlled substances prior to, practice, during a display or when representing the Group.

Members shall not fight with equipment likely to prejudice safety; this shall be under the reasonable authority of the appointed safety representitive.

Combatants shall wear approved head and hand protection in combat situations.

Members shall behave in a responsible manner at all times while engaged in Group business and shall not behave at any time in a manner detrimental to the good reputation of the Group.

Any member taking prescribed medicines must notify the appointed Safety representitive before taking part in a display and will be registered as doing so. Failure to supply this information may result in that person not being insured or being permitted to fight at future events.

Any member unlawfully taking controlled substances will be automatically banned from the display and possibly from the Group.

These rules do not supercede but are in association with our stated safety regulations.

Insurance

The Group undertakes the provision of suitable Public and Personel Liability Insurance.

Equipment

All personal equipment and costume used by the members of the Group should reflect the current expected standards of the Group and passed for authenticity and safety as approved by the appropriate representitive.

Guidelines

It is required that before any member of the Group embarks on any activity involving the Group that they will seek the guidance of the Chairman or Vice-chairman.

If a person has a grievance connected with the Group it is hoped that they will take the matter up with a member of the Committee before taking the matter further.

Conduct of the A.G.M.

Once per year at a time agreed by the Committee (but not later than fourteen months from the date of the previous A.G.M.) The Comittee shall call an Annual General Meeting. A.G.M.

An Extraordinary General Meeting (E.G.M.) May be called by the Committee or upon receipt of a written request (stating the objective and proposed motions of the E.G.M.) signed by at least six full members.

Changes to the Constitution can only be effected at an A.G.M. or at an E.G.M., called and managed according to the same rules, which apply to the A.G.M.

An agenda and proposals for the A.G.M. or E.G.M. must be circulated to all members of the Group not less than twenty-eight days prior to the date of the proposed meeting (A.G.M. or E.G.M.).

Only fully paid up members shall be entitled to vote at the A.G.M. or E.G.M. and wherever family membership applies, all family members except concessionary members, shall be entitled to vote.
